Karma’s Punch
It was for the first time in our relationship that we didn’t talk to each other for a week. She came to my department to make eye contact, but I ignored her. She called me numerous times, but I did not take her calls.
“Why do you blame her for that incident?” Sattu asked me.
“She was the one who called me to her place knowing the risks,” I said.
“She called you because she was missing you. Her dad accidentally showed up. You are angry for no reason. ”
I knew I didn’t have a valid rationale to get mad. What did I want to prove? Even if I did, this wasn’t the right way of proving it. She wanted to talk to me as much as I wanted.
“Why don’t you invite her over to our place? It is safe and convenient,” Sattu suggested.
“This apartment had been an arena of lust. I want to maintain the sanctity of my love. Bringing her here means adding just another name to the list of visitors. ”
“Why are you so rigid about your concepts? She is over your past, so why can’t you suck it up? Doesn’t matter what we had done in this apartment, it has been a pure and pious place for me. I spent the best time with you and my other friends here. Don’t you dare say a word against this apartment!”
I had never seen Sattu getting emotional before. I never thought he could be so sensitive about the apartment and his friendship with me. I felt an urge to hug him. He made me change my rigid concepts. I hugged him, for the first time sober.
Sucking up all the anger, I messaged her. It was too late now. She stopped attempting to ask for an apology. She didn’t message me back. I invited her to my place. I left her my address and a note that I would miss college and wait for her at my apartment. She didn’t reply, but I knew she would come. I cleaned my room and reopened the honeymoon suite, first time with a clean intention.
The next morning, she came. I apologized to her but she didn’t accept it. She had a grumpy look on her face. I welcomed her in the same fashion like she had. I took her on a mini apartment tour. She followed me without talking. Then we sat in the honeymoon suite. I went close to her to recreate the magical moment. She got up from her chair and stood against the wall. I stood in front of her and tried to flick away the hair that fell on her eyes. She pushed my hands away from her. I held her shoulders and moved closer to her. She used all her force to shake me away, but I firmly advanced closer. I kissed her on her lips and moved a step back. She stood still for a moment and a second later she came towards me to hug me tightly.
